ITC 4310 Web Design and Development
Description
Focuses on the basics of HTML with lab work that leads the user through a clear, step-by-step, screen-by-screen approach to learning the language. Students learn how to create a Web page using HTML, format the page, add graphics, and more with this exciting new edition. Topics include: Introduction to HTML, Creating and Editing a Web Page, Creating Web Pages with Links, Images, and Formatted Text, and Creating Tables in a Web Site In the second part of the course, students will build on the basics of HTML and incorporate design principles that can be used with any language.
Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:
1. Identify the types and purposes of Web sites
2. Discuss the five phases of the Web development life cycle
3. Identify elements of a Web page
4. Enter the HTML tags, headings and a paragraph of text in Notepad
5. Identify Web page image types and attributes
6. Add an image, change the background color of a Web page, center a heading, and add a horizontal rule
7. Describe linking terms and definitions
8. Create a home page and enhance a Web page using images
9. Define table elements
10. Describe the steps used to plan, design, and code a table
11. Describe the current state of HTML
12. Explain variables in the Web design environment
13. Describe browser compatibility issues
14. Create a unified site design, a site specification, and usable navigation
15. Use text and graphics for navigation and linking
16. Explain table basics and be able to format tables
17. Create a page template
18. Explain CSS style rules
19. Build a basic style sheet
20. Explain graphics file formats
21. Explain computer color basics
22. Work with images and color
