This book provides a comprehensive overview of the organizational models of distance and online learning from an international perspective and from the point of view of economic planning, costing and management decision-making. The book points to directions for the further research and development in this area, and will promote further understanding and critical reflection on the part of administrators, practitioners and researchers of distance education. The experiences and perspectives in distance education in the US are balanced with those in other areas of the world.
Interactive Distance Learning in PreK12 Settings: A Handbook of Possibilities (Paperback)
From School Library Journal
Interactive distance learning technology includes any technology that brings outside learning resources into the classroom. They can be delayed-time (audiopage, video, CD-ROM, etc.) or real-time communication sources (online chats, audioconference, virtual-learning areas, etc.). In this thorough overview, Yates has included useful information for teachers and librarians new to their use and veterans. Although the emphasis is on Web-based sources, others may also be applied. The author encourages readers to start small by introducing these resources into existing lessons as enrichment. Chapters detailing the background, models, and applications of interactive distance learning are included as are discussions of supporting technologies and evaluating activities. Since Internet addresses do change, additional descriptive information is provided so sites can be found more easily if moved. References are provided at the end of each section.–Jess (more…)

Last year, I made heat/cold pads using dish towels/cloths purchased at the dollar store. Bought some rice for the filling and sewed them right up. They were a big hit! I made some long for around the neck and some wide for the back area. I also made some into square shapes for toddler owies!

i think those are cute ideas! if you want to give something more, make everyone a little tin of cookies. everyone loves baked goods! have a nice holiday!
You already have some wonderful ideas!! How about going through all the old photo albums and making your music cd's go with some photos? You might also check out some yardsales and look for something you can re-paint / restore and re-gift it !!
It all sounds wonderful! Heaven knows where you'll find the time to do all that, but it sounds great! Candles are always nice but only as a decorative thing, I know I get given them but I don't use them, so they end up collecting dust. But there are loads of candles in the world so obviously not everyone works like that!
I wish I had you around to teach ME how to make all that stuff!
this site has great Christmas gift ideas for this season

make stockings and fill with treats like candy and cookies and candycanes or for those without the sweet tooth you could fill with ornaments you've made yourself like cloths pin reinder or soldiers
